Recent eBay purchase of Toshi Yoshida’s woodblock print titled Village of Plums has been added to the woodblock gallery.
This is a lifetime pencil signed print depicting a spring landscape, looking down over a small village with white plum trees in flower bordering the fields. A typical landscape by Toshi Yoshida with a peaceful serene small village feeling.
Hello, i also have the block print “Village of Plums” by Toshi Yoshida singed in pencil along with the title signed in pencil. i have had it for some time now. When I acquired it, it had been professionally matted and framed beautifully. i have left it that way. The condition is as the day it can off the block. It is a beautiful piece. i had inquired a few years ago and the going price for it then was between $500 and $ 600 for an identical one,not framed and not in as good as condition as mine.. What is the going price for it now, if you know? Thank you for you time. Tim Nelson
Hi Tim,
Prices vary quite a lot. It really depends on who’s looking to buy at any given point in time. I would have thought that at $500-600 you may have being given retail pricing. Personally I generally won’t pay more for a framed vs unframed print as sellers often don’t know if the materials used are conservation quality or not.
I can see 3 copies of the Yoshida print for sale on websites (i.e retail) at present – one lower quality for $250, another at Floatingworld for $450 and a framed print at Scriptum for $550. All 3 have been for sale for quite a while. Update: The Scriptum one may have been sold?
At auction the print is mostly in the $200-360 range. A very good unframed copy of this woodblock print sold recently for $225 plus buyers premium on the Live Auctioneers site. Artelino have sold copies at auction for $260-360.
Regards, Mike.
